Transportation Structural Project Engineer II - Hunt Valley, Maryland

Position Summary:

A leading civil engineering firm is seeking an experienced Transportation Structural Engineer to join its Hunt Valley, MD office. The ideal candidate will lead bridge design and rehabilitation projects, manage budgets and schedules, and mentor junior engineers. This role is essential in overseeing horizontal structure projects with a focus on technical excellence and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and rehabilitation of bridge and transportation structures
• Maintain project scopes, budgets, and schedules
• Prepare contract bid documents and oversee construction phase services
• Manage coordination with subconsultants and internal teams
• Supervise and mentor design engineers and CAD technicians
• Communicate with clients and foster long-term relationships

Must-Have Qualifications:

• 10–15 years of relevant experience in structural bridge design
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the state of Maryland
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
• Deep knowledge of AASHTO LRFD bridge design standards
• Experience with Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) projects
• Proficiency in structural principles for steel, reinforced concrete, and prestressed concrete

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering
• 3+ years of experience leading design and drafting teams
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
