Senior Transportation Structural Project Engineer - Hunt Valley, Maryland

Position Summary:

An established engineering firm is seeking a Senior Transportation Structural Engineer for its Hunt Valley, MD location. This senior-level role is responsible for managing complex transportation structure projects, including the design and rehabilitation of bridges. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise and leadership in delivering high-quality structural solutions for public infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead structural design for new construction and rehabilitation bridge projects

• Manage scopes, budgets, timelines, and quality control

• Oversee preparation of bid documents and construction-phase support

• Coordinate with subconsultants, internal teams, and drafting personnel

• Guide and mentor junior engineers and CAD teams

• Serve as a technical expert and client liaison on assigned projects

Required Skills & Experience:

• 12–20 years of structural engineering experience

• PE License in the state of Maryland

• Deep knowledge of AASHTO LRFD bridge design standards

• Experience with Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT)

• Expertise in design principles for steel, reinforced, and prestressed concrete

• Strong project management, verbal, and written communication skills

• Ability to oversee multiple projects in a collaborative environment

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering

• 6+ years of experience managing engineering/drafting teams

Working Conditions:
