Job Summary

We are seeking an Imaging Service Engineer II in Philadelphia, PA, to inspect, repair, maintain, and calibrate diagnostic imaging equipment under supervision. In this mid-senior role, you will collaborate with clinical health providers to identify technology-based issues, develop solutions, and participate in on-the-job training. This position requires at least 5 years of imaging equipment experience in a hospital or healthcare setting and an Associate degree (or equivalent experience) in electronic, biomedical engineering, or a related field.


Key Responsibilities

  • Equipment Inspection & Maintenance:
    • Inspect, maintain, repair, and calibrate a wide range of diagnostic imaging and therapeutic radiation systems (e.g., X-ray, CT, MRI, ultrasound).
    • Ensure all equipment meets manufacturer specifications and safety standards.
  • Regulatory Compliance:
    • Verify equipment and procedures comply with regulatory requirements (e.g., Joint Commission, state health department).
    • Prepare documentation and reports for audits and inspections.
  • Clinical Support:
    • Provide advanced technical support to facilitate direct patient care.
    • Collaborate with clinical teams to identify technology-based problems and formulate solutions.
  • Troubleshooting & Repair:
    • Diagnose malfunctions, troubleshoot failures, and adjust system parameters to restore functionality.
    • Make decisions on parts replacement, repair procedures, and preventive maintenance.
  • Customer Service & Documentation:
    • Address organization-level service issues or complaints; escalate complex problems when necessary.
    • Maintain accurate service logs, work orders, and calibration records.
  • Safety & Training:
    • Demonstrate a safety-first mindset by following all safety protocols, including radiation safety and infection control.
    • Participate in on-the-job training programs and mentor junior engineers or technicians.
  • Financial Responsibility:
    • Manage the purchase of replacement parts and service agreements within budgetary guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Education:
    • Associate degree (or equivalent experience) in electronic or biomedical engineering, or a related discipline focused on clinical equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 5 years of imaging equipment repair and maintenance experience in a hospital or healthcare environment (or equivalent military training).
    • Proven ability to troubleshoot and repair medical imaging devices.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Hands-on expertise with imaging systems such as Cathlab, C-Arms, and Ultrasound (strongly preferred).
    • Familiarity with diagnostic modalities and equipment calibration procedures.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent communication and customer service skills to interact effectively with clinical staff.
    • Strong time management, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail.
  • Work Environment:
    • Ability to work under supervision and adhere to departmental policies and procedures.
    • Commitment to maintaining a safe clinical environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in biomedical equipment technology or equivalent (e.g., CBET).
  • Experience with advanced imaging modalities (MRI, CT) or therapeutic radiation equipment.
  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and preventive maintenance scheduling.
  • Prior involvement in cross-functional training or leading technical workshops.
