Job Summary

We are seeking a Cybersecurity Engineer to join our client’s IT team in Northern Indiana. In this role, you will respond to security incidents, manage vulnerability remediation, oversee cybersecurity tools (firewalls, SIEM, antivirus, etc.), and ensure systems align with organizational security standards. This position requires at least 5 years of information security experience, a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent), and a valid driver’s license. Relocation assistance is available; visa sponsorship is not.


Key Responsibilities

  • Safety & Core Values:

    • Adhere to all internal and external safety requirements; participate in compliance and safety trainings.

    • Support organizational core values—Customer Service, Respect, Excellence, Stewardship, and Teamwork (CREST).

  • Security Monitoring & Incident Response:

    • Continuously monitor for security anomalies, policy violations, and breaches using SIEM and other detection tools.

    • Respond to and investigate security incidents, producing well-documented incident reports and timelines.

  • Vulnerability Management:

    • Lead a vulnerability management program: discover, classify, prioritize, and track remediation of vulnerabilities on on-premises and remote networks.

    • Collaborate with IT staff to guide patching efforts and verify remediation actions.

  • Security Tool Administration:

    • Manage and maintain security technologies, including firewalls, proxies, vulnerability scanners, SIEM, antivirus solutions, and email protection platforms.

    • Configure, test, and verify security controls; report findings and recommend improvements.

  • Policy & Compliance Alignment:

    • Assist in aligning systems to organization-wide security policies and protocols.

    • Work with auditors and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with applicable standards and regulations.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration:

    • Communicate with internal IT teams, employees, supervisors, and managers to address security concerns and promote best practices.

    • Engage with external security vendors and regulatory entities as needed.

  • Proactive Security Research:

    • Stay up to date on emerging cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and industry best practices; translate findings into actionable recommendations.

    • Contribute to security recommendations during network and system design phases.

  • On-Call Support & Other Duties:

    • Participate in the security on-call rotation for after-hours incident response.

    • Perform other duties as assigned; maintain reliable attendance.


Qualifications

  • Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent work experience in information security.

  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in information security, preferably within a corporate or industrial environment.

  • Technical Knowledge:

    • Strong understanding of penetration testing methodologies, network security principles, and techniques for identifying and remediating security flaws.

    • Broad familiarity with security technologies: firewalls, proxies, SIEM, antivirus software, and Identity Providers (IdPs).

    • Knowledge of vulnerability management processes and tools; able to prioritize and coordinate remediation efforts.

  • Soft Skills:

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to convey complex security concepts in a clear, professional manner.

    • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities; able to innovate security solutions that balance protection with business availability.

    • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal guidance and supervision.

  • Other Requirements:

    • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.

    • Willingness to relocate to Northern Indiana; relocation assistance provided.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, or equivalent.

  • Experience in the construction or infrastructure industry, with knowledge of OT/ICS security.

  • Familiarity with cloud security controls (AWS, Azure, or GCP).

  • Exposure to compliance frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001, PCI-DSS).

  • Hands-on experience with advanced threat-hunting tools and automation frameworks.
